The famous French lutenist and conductor Vincent Dumestre, who will appear at the coming Misteria Paschalia Festival with his ensemble Le Poéme Harmonique and in June will be a guest of the Opera Rara series, has been very successful in France. In March he will show his astonishing staging of the opera Cadmus et Hermione by Jean Baptiste Lully at Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre de Caen and in Grand Théâtre in Luxemburg. As we expected, Philippe Joroussky has received two prestigious distinctions at the Midem Classical Awards. The vocalist has been considered The Artist of the Year 2009 and additionally honoured with the award for the Best Album 2009 in the Baroque Music category, dedicated to the famous castrato Carestini and recorded for Virgin recording company. | |||||||||
The first concert in the Opera Rara series in Krakow fully deserves to be referred to as a great event. Fabio Biondi (soon to appear in Krakow at Misteria Paschalia Festival), who gave a masterly performance of Hercules in Thermodon, the reconstructed Vivaldi’s opera, and the world’s leading singers have evoked the enthusiasm of classical music fans, both attending the concert and listening to the live broadcast on Polish Radio’s 2nd Programme.
