Jean-Christophe Spinosi« backHe originates from Corsica, and his second motherland is Brittany. He combines two careers with enthusiasm – violinist and conductor. He leads Ensemble Matheus, of which he is the founder and as a guest conductor he performs on the most important stages and festival in Europe (among others in Paris, Salzburg, Vienna, Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, Brussels, Venice, Edinburgh, Milan), as well as in the United States. He cooperates with the most outstanding singers of modern times. For four years he has been conducting a new performance in each season, shown at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris (G. Rossini’s La pietra del paragone, Messager’s Veronique, C. Monteverdi’s Vespers and V. Bellini’s Norma). In recent seasons he also conducted the operas of G.F. Handel (Alcyna), A. Vivaldi (La fida ninfa) and W.A. Mozart (The Magic Flute, Così fan tutte). As a guest conductor he has cooperated, among others, with Haendel and Haydn Society Orchestra in Boston, Radio Sinfonie-Orchester Frankfurt, Philharmonic Orchestra Monte Carlo and Mozarteum Orchestra from Salzburg. In the upcoming time, Spinosi has concerts planned among others in Deutsches Synfonie-Orchester Berlin, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, City of Birmingham Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from Stockholm, New Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra (in Sunatory Hall in Tokyo), Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, Orquesta Sinfonica de Castilla y Leon, Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi, NDR Hannover and Orchestre du Capitole in Toulouse. He shall also conduct the new staging of W.A. Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro directed by Philip Himmelmann at the festival in Baden-Baden and G. Rossini’s La gazza ladra directed by David Alden at the opera in Frankfurt. The artist is also preparing new performances at Théâtre du Châtelet and Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris. Jean-Christophe Spinosi’s activity is documented by recordings among others for the companies Naïve and Virgin Classics. All of hitherto released albums were extremely successful among the public and were overflowed with awards from France and around the whole world. |
