Christian Senn

Christian Senn was born in Chile. He is a laureate of numerous vocal competitions. In 2001, he received a scholarship enabling him to take part in the programme for young vocal artists at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan. He performs in oratorio and cantata repertoire and operas. He is one of the most valued high baritones in the world interpreting the repertoire of G. Rossini and W.A. Mozart. From among the most prestigious projects that he has realised recently, there is the role of Figaro in G. Rossini’s The Barber of Seville (Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Torino and La Fenice in Venice), the Count in W.A. Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (Teatro alla Scala), Taddeo in G. Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algeri (Teatro Regio) and Papageno in W.A. Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Opera in Montpellier). The artist already sings the parts of Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart’s Così fan tutte (Santiago Teatro Nacional, Reggio Emilia). Recently he could also be seen in the role of Pacuvio in G. Rossini’s La pietra di paragone (Théâtre du Châtelet, Teatro Regio in Parma). Senn specialises also in baroque repertoire. He created the leading role in A. Vivaldi’s Bajazet; he also became famous for the interpretation of the role of Astolfo in A. Vivaldi’s Orlando furioso. A significant achievement in his work is also the performance of the part La Senna in A. Vivaldi’s La Senna Festeggiante, as well as performances in G.F. Handel’s Alexander’s Feast, Senn is also a valued interpreter of J.S. Bach’s cantatas, passions and oratorios. Among others, the artist cooperated with Riccardo Mutim, Giovanni Antonini, Ottavio Dantone, Fabio Biondi, Paul Goodwin, Jean-Christophe Spinosi and Diego Fasolis. Currently he is being invited by the most important opera theatres and festivals around the whole world. His activity is documented by several recordings, among others for the company Naïve (Tito Manlio, A. Vivaldi’s La fida ninfa, G. Rossini’s La pietra del paragone).
