David DQ Lee

Born in Korea. In 2006 he began his career from a breathtaking win in the prestigious Francisco Pinas International Voice Competition in Barcelona, where he also won the award for the best performer of songs and oratorios and the best countertenor. Lee is also a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition and Rose Poncelle International Voice Competition. The artist impresses with his rich repertoire, in which there is room for baroque pieces and modern music, jazz and opera. Lee is valued for his activity both on the stage of the opera, as well as solo recitals and for oratorio and cantata ventures. He belongs to the group of best interpreters of G.F. Handel’s (Balthazar, Orlando, Radamisto) and A. Vivaldi’s (Orlando furioso) masterpieces. The artist cooperates with such excellent conductors as Christoph Eschenbach, Timothy Vernon, Andrey Boreyko, Martin Haselböck, William Christie, Andrea Marcon, Alessandro de Marchi. He performs at the most important European festivals (among others in Beaune) and famous opera theatres (e.g. Comische Oper in Berlin) and in concert halls (e.g. Concertgebouw in Amsterdam).
