She began her musical education with the piano and double bass. Then she studied singing under Margaret Heyword in Milan. Now she gives classes herself at the Scuole Civiche in Milan and is one of the most popular Italian sopranos specialising in the performance of 16th and 17th century music. She has collaborated with Ton Koopman, Gustav Leonhardt, Jordi Savall, Andrew Parrot, Fabio Biondi, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Antonio Florio and the ensembles Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Concentus Musicus Wien, Cappella della Pietà de’Turchini, Europa Galante, I Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, Ensemble Matheus, Concerto Italiano and Il Giardino Armonico, to name but a few. She has sung the leading roles in operas by Purcell (Dido & Aeneas), Handel (Rodrigo), Vivaldi (L’Olimpiade), Monteverdi (L’Orfeo), Pergolesi (L’Olimpiade), da Gagliano (La Dafne), Vinci (Le Zite n’Galera) and Provenzale (La Colomba Ferita). She has made over 60 recordings for: Archiv Produktion, Virgin Classics, Opus 111, Glossa, Symphonia and Stradivarius. Many of her recordings have received the highest critical awards: “Choc de l’année”, “Diapason d’Or de l’année”; in 2007 her solo album Dolcissimo Sospiro with accompaniment by Accademia Strumentale Italiana was granted “Midem Classical Award”, and the recording of Handel’s Italian cantatas (for Glossa) received the “Stanley Prize” for best recording of the year of Handel’s works. In the 2009/2010 season she will take part in the productions in Salzburg (Mozart’s Davide Penitente with Nicolaus Harnoncourt), in La Scala in Milan (Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria with Rinaldo Alessandrini), in Teatro Real in Madrid (Handel’s Agrippina with Alan Curtis) and in Krakow during the Misteria Paschalia Festival and the Opera Rara series (Handel’s Rinaldo with Ottavio Dantone and La Resurrezione and Vivaldi’s Ottone in Villa with Giovanni Antonini).
