“Krakow has become the capital of music. Next to an array of outstanding events (Misteria Paschalia, Sacrum Profanum, the Festival of Polish Music) it added another one at a truly European level. This is the Opera Rara presenting Baroque music,” as we read in today’s Rzeczpospolita. In the summary of the year the Opera Rara series, which was inaugurated this year, was recognized as the delight and festival debut of the year.

This is another distinction for Krakow festivals. In yesterday’s Polityka weekly Dorota Szwarcman mentioned the following in the top ten most interesting events of 2009 (in the classical music category): “Festivals organised by the Krakow Festival Office: Misteria Paschalia and Sacrum Profanum were joined by the Opera Rara series including four Baroque operas performed by leading European ensembles. Particularly outstanding was The Bourgeois Gentleman performed by the French ensemble Le Poeme Harmonique".
