Act I
Narete, a shepherd on Skyros, and his two daughters Licori and Elpina, have been kidnapped by Oralto, a pirate ruling the island Naksos. During her childhood, Licori was destined for Osmino, whom Thrace soldiers kidnapped. Named Morasta, he now rules the island serving Oralto. Although he recognised Licori, she has not any idea with whom she is dealing, maintaining loyal to her Osmino.

Act II
To simplify things more, yet another Osmino appears in the intrigue: it is Tirsi, Osmino’s brother, who has been captured by Oralto and taken the name of his brother. Elpina fell in love with him and he himself is smitten by Licori. In learning his – false – name, Elpina hastens with the news to her sister. Being deceived by the brotherly likeness of Osmino II to Osmino I, she falls in his arms, to the despair of Osmino/Morasto.

Act III
Oralto, sensitive to the charms of Licori, makes more and more importunate advances to her. In taking advantage of his momentary absence, Narete advises his daughter to hide in the nearby grotto, after which he shows Oralto her stole, ensuring him that she jumped into the sea. Not being able to control himself any longer, Morasto shows Licori his true likes of Osmino I, accusing her of betrayal of trust; however, Narete explains the misunderstanding, revealing Osmino II’s identity, that is Tirsi. Osmino I/Morasto and his dear Licori decide to run away together via sea, not looking at the terrible weather forecast. Luckily, however, Juno stands up for the lovers before the outraged Eolo, who stop his winds, connecting the bonnies.
