Magdalena Sroka nominated for a MocArt 2010 Award

Magdalena Sroka, until the 31st of December 2010 the director of the Krakow Festival Office, since when she was made Deputy President of Krakow, responsible for culture and promotion of the city, was nominated for a MocArt 2010 Award in the ‘Personality of the Year’ category ‘…for her strong personality and creative work as the head of the Krakow Festival Bureau, which organised a lot of remarkable events when Ms. Sroka was in charge. Among the events mentioned in her nomination are: the Festival of Film Music, the Divine Comedy International Theatre Festival, Opera Rara, the Joseph Conrad International Literary Festival and the Sacrum Profanum. In the plebiscite organised by RMF Classic, Ms. Sroka will compete with such distinguished figures of Polish culture as Kayah, Leszek Możdżer, Jerzy Skolimowski and Paweł Potoroczyn. Voting began today and the winners will be announced on the 23rd of March, during a gala ceremony at the Pałac Sobańskich in Warsaw.

It is also worth mentioning that in the Category ‘Film Music of the Year’ one of the five nominations was the soundtrack to Single Man by Abel Korzeniowski, and the guest of the last season of the Film Music Festival in Krakow – Shigeru Umebayashi. Both composers were appreciated for ‘intelligent music and their nomination to the Golden Globe’ award. MocArt is an award that will this year be granted for the first time in four categories: ‘Personality of the Year’, ‘Event of the Year’, ‘Film Music of the Year’ and ‘Product of the Year’. Read here for more information about MocArt awards.
